How it works

Four steps, and you can stop at any of them

CashOtter collects one request and passes it to one lender. Here is exactly what happens, in order.

Ready when you are

About three minutes, and you see the payment first.

No fee to submit. No obligation. Applying does not affect your FICO® Score.

Before you borrow

This is an expensive form of borrowing. These loans are designed for short-term needs such as an emergency repair or an unexpected bill. They are not a long-term financial solution, and they cost far more than a credit card, a credit union loan or a payment plan with the biller.

The process

From your first click to the lender's decision

  1. Step 1: Tell us what you need

Pick an amount, then answer eleven short questions about you, your income and the checking account the money would go to. It takes about three minutes.

You can stop part-way. We give you a save-and-return link that stays valid for seven days, so you do not have to start again.

  2. Step 2: We pass your request to the lender

Your request goes to one lender, CreditCube, immediately. It is not shopped around a chain of buyers, and it is not resold to a list of other sites.

That is the whole of CashOtter's role. We do not make credit decisions and we do not set your rate.

  3. Step 3: The lender decides and shows the terms

CreditCube reviews the request and, if it makes an offer, shows the rate, the payment schedule and the total before anything is signed. A decision usually comes the same day.

You may be contacted to verify your identity, your income or your banking details. If the request is declined, the lender tells you the reason.

Applicants are verified through consumer reporting agencies including Clarity Services, Inc.

  4. Step 4: You decide

There is no deadline and no pressure. Declining costs nothing, and nothing is owed unless you sign a loan agreement.

Before you start

What you'll need

Nothing here is a promise of approval. It is the list the lender applies before it will look at a request at all.

  • You must be at least 18. Alabama and Nebraska require 19, and Mississippi requires 21.
  • You live in a state the lender serves. Not available in PA, CT, MN, NY, VT, VA, WV, IL, GA.
  • An active checking account that accepts ACH credits and debits. Savings accounts and prepaid cards are not accepted.
  • Regular, verifiable income — a job or another dependable source.
  • A working email address.
  • A phone number where you can be reached.

After you sign

Funding, repayment and your right to cancel

The lender's installment loan runs 224 days, with a payment every two weeks.

When the money arrives

Applications approved before 3:00 PM EST, Monday to Friday, are typically funded the next business day. Deposit times vary by bank.

Real-Time Funding (RTF) can deliver the money in as little as 30 minutes, if your bank supports instant transfers.

On weekends and holidays, Real-Time Funding is available only for applications that are auto-approved.

How you repay

  • ACH debit from the checking account on file
  • Debit card
  • Cashier's check
  • Money order

Mailed payments must arrive by the due date, not simply be postmarked by it.

Paying early costs you less

There is no prepayment penalty. Paying the loan off early, or making extra payments between due dates, reduces the total cost.

Extra payments between due dates reduce the balance interest is charged on, so the total you pay falls. This matters a great deal at 259.94% – 779.97%.

Three-day right to cancel

You may cancel the loan within three days of signing. You repay the principal only — no fees and no interest — by completing the Notice of Cancellation form the lender provides with your agreement.

If it goes wrong

If you can't pay

Talk to the lender before the due date. It is the single thing that most changes how this ends.

Contact the lender first

Call CreditCube on 1-888-885-5646 or email support@creditcube.com, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST. A conversation before the payment fails is worth far more than one after.

What escalation can mean

  • More interest and fees as the balance stays outstanding.
  • A missed or returned payment can trigger a late fee and a non-sufficient funds fee, and your bank may charge its own overdraft fee on top.
  • In-house collections contact from the lender.
  • No new loans from the lender until the balance is settled.
  • An unpaid balance may be referred to collections. The loan is governed by tribal law rather than the law of your state, which affects how a dispute is resolved.
  • The lender verifies applicants through consumer reporting agencies including Clarity Services, and non-payment may be reported, which can make future borrowing harder or more expensive.

If debt is a recurring problem rather than a one-off gap, a nonprofit credit counsellor is a better first call than another loan: nfcc.org.

Amounts: first loan $200 – $500; returning customers up to $5,000 at VIP level. Full figures on the rates and costs page.
