Before you borrow

This is an expensive form of borrowing. These loans are designed for short-term needs such as an emergency repair or an unexpected bill. They are not a long-term financial solution, and they cost far more than a credit card, a credit union loan or a payment plan with the biller.

Before you start

What you'll need

The whole list, up front. About three minutes if you have these to hand.

  • You're 18 or older

19 in Alabama and Nebraska, 21 in Mississippi, as those states require.

  • You live in a state the lender serves

Not available in PA, CT, MN, NY, VT, VA, WV, IL, GA. Checked on the first screen.

  • An active checking account

It must accept ACH deposits and debits. No savings or prepaid cards.

  • Regular, verifiable income

A job or another regular, verifiable source of income, plus an active checking account that accepts ACH credits and debits. Savings and prepaid accounts are not accepted.

  • A working email address

Your agreement and notices are delivered electronically.

  • A phone number we can reach

Used to verify the request. Marketing calls and texts are your choice.

You do not need perfect credit, and you do not need to upload documents to get started.

How it works

Four steps, and you can stop at any of them

CashOtter collects your request. CreditCube decides. Nothing is binding until you sign a loan agreement with them.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

Choose an amount and answer eleven short questions. You can save and come back.

    About 3 minutes

  2. 2

We pass your request to the lender

One lender: CreditCube. We are not a marketplace and we do not shop your request around.

    Immediately

  3. 3

The lender decides and shows you terms

If they make an offer, you see the rate, the payment schedule and the total before you sign anything.

    Usually the same day

  4. 4

    You decide

Signing is your choice. Declining costs you nothing and there is no obligation at any point.

    No deadline

Amount realism

Why $5,000 is not the number most people get

The maximum on this page is the ceiling for the whole product, not an amount you should expect on a first request.

Your first loan

$200 – $500

A first loan with CreditCube, where no borrowing history exists yet

After you've repaid one

$501 – $5,000

Repeat borrowers, whose rate falls with payment history and Loyalty Program status

The APR that applies to each of these is stated once, in rates and costs. Larger amounts and lower rates are earned through repayment history with the lender. Asking for more than the first-loan ceiling on a first request does not increase what you are offered, and borrowing more than you need is the most expensive mistake available here.

Know what you're getting

This is an installment loan, not a payday loan

Both are expensive. They fail in different ways, and the difference changes what you should plan for.

After you submit

What actually happens next

Written down so you are not guessing once the form is gone.

Who contacts you
CreditCube, the lender. You may hear from CashOtter about your request. You will not be sold on to a chain of unrelated buyers.
How they contact you
Email and phone, using the details you give us. If you did not tick the marketing consent box, contact is limited to your request.
How long it takes
Applications approved before 3pm EST Monday to Friday are typically funded the next business day. Deposit times vary by bank.
If you are approved
You get a loan agreement setting out the APR, every payment date and the total you will repay. Read it before you sign — it, not this page, is the binding document.
If you are declined
You are told. A decline here is not a credit report entry from us, and you are free to go elsewhere.
Your data
You can ask us to stop selling or sharing it at any time, from the Do Not Sell link in the footer. That link works today, not eventually.

Honest fit

Who this is for, and who it isn't

High-cost credit works for a narrow set of situations. It makes most others worse.

This may make sense if

  • A one-off, dated expense: a car repair, a deposit, a shut-off notice
  • You can name the payday the loan gets repaid from
  • Your credit is thin or damaged and mainstream lenders have said no
  • You have weighed this cost against leaving the bill unpaid

Please don't use this for

  • Paying off another short-term loan — this is how people end up in a cycle
  • Ongoing shortfalls where income doesn't cover the month
  • Anything you could put on a credit card or a biller payment plan instead
  • Discretionary spending, or a purchase that can wait a few weeks

If money is tight every month, talk to someone free first

Questions

The six things people actually ask

Including the one most sites in this category avoid.

Still the right call? Then let's get it done.

About three minutes. No fee to submit, no obligation to accept, and you can stop at any step.

CashOtter is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. We collect your request and pass it to CreditCube. Whether you receive an offer, and on what terms, is decided by the lender, not by us.

CashOtter and CreditCube are affiliated. CashOtter is paid when a request it sends is accepted. We disclose this because the connection is material: we are not an independent comparison service, and we route your request to one lender.

CreditCube is a tribal enterprise of the Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians, a sovereign government. Your loan agreement is governed by tribal and, where applicable, federal law. The laws of your state of residence do not apply to it, and all communications and transactions are deemed to occur on tribal land.

Federal law provides important protections to members of the Armed Forces and their dependents. Covered borrowers under the Military Lending Act may not be charged a Military Annual Percentage Rate above 36%. CreditCube's products are priced above that cap and are therefore not available to applicants identified as covered borrowers in the Military Lending Act database.
